The IWSL began in 2017 with four teams comprised of 60 collegiate women fastpitch softball players. 2025 will be the 9th season for the IWSL summer league which plays two doubleheaders (4 games) on Sundays in June & July. 

DH game times are (11am & 1pm) and (3pm & 5pm) on the Sunday’s we play.

A 6 weekend, 11 games per team season schedule.

Everyone plays, continuous batting order, open substitutions and all pitchers get to throw on Sunday.

    Enrollment is open to any female collegiate age player or post-graduates from any division or class of play;          

Jr. College, NAIA, NCSA, DI, DII or DIII 

The league has 56 player positions available and will remain open until all spots are filled.  

A Super-Sub list is available for players who wish to play on a stand-by basis, there is no enrollment fee to be a Super-Sub.  A no questions asked enrollment waiver is available for players who need an enrollment sponsorship.

Teams are drafted in May and listed under SIGN-UP. Opening Day 2025 is Sunday June 1st at Mount Mercy University. 

As of 2025 over 300 players representing over 70 different collegiate schools have participated in the IWSL. 

The league offers competitive fastpitch games in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with collegiate officials. Teams do not hold practices and play on some of the nicest fields available with team sponsor uniforms.

Iowa High School Seniors can participate in the league only after their high school season has concluded.
